Live chat on RocketChat
The project hosts its own RocketChat server, which works straight from the browser with no extra software.
Use it when you want an answer in minutes rather than days: a hand with a specific task such as building or translating Inkscape, a development question, or simply a conversation with other people who draw.
The discussion forum
The official Inkscape forum keeps longer conversations in one searchable place.
It suits everything from a first question about the node tool, through detailed threads on advanced features, to showing off the drawing you just finished.
IRC, for those who prefer it
IRC came first and still works. Two channels live on libera.chat:
- #inkscape — everyday questions and user talk
- #inkscape-devel — code, builds and other technical matters
Both channels are bridged into RocketChat as inkscape_user and team_devel by inkchatbot, so one seat is enough — pick whichever client you like and you still see the whole conversation.

Mailing lists
A handful of mailing lists serve different corners of the project.
They suit slower subjects — planning, direction, decisions that need a week of thought rather than an afternoon — and they are an easy way to follow project news by email. Every list keeps a public archive you can search before asking.
